The bout between Davis and Martin has been in the works since February, when it was reported that the two had agreed to a matchup sometime in the spring or summer, though the exact date had not been specified until now. Davis, who was elevated to full WBA lightweight champion after Devin Haney vacated the title last December, has not fought since his knockout victory over Ryan Garcia in April 2023. Undefeated Davis is one of the sport's most prominent figures.
On the other hand, Frank Martin is set to have his first opportunity at a world title. The promising boxer remains undefeated with an impressive record, coming off a unanimous decision victory over Artem Harutyunyan last July.
Meanwhile, in the co-main event Oleksandr Gvozdyk faces David Benavidez for the Interim WBC World Light Heavyweight title.
Benavidez enters this fight fresh off a successful defense of his WBC interim super middleweight title, achieved with a TKO victory over Demetrius Andrade last November. On the other hand, Gvozdyk, a former world champion at 175 pounds, has secured three significant wins in 2023 following his defeat by the current champion, Artur Beterbiev, in 2019.
