Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez is reportedly willing to face Gervonta Davis despite the huge weight difference between the two fighters.
According to Rodriguez’s trainer Robert Garcia, Davis privately messaged Rodriguez with a challenge, and the WBA bantamweight champion immediately accepted.
“Tank Davis sent him a private message challenging him and Bam was like, ‘yeah, let’s do it,’” Garcia said. “Bam is not afraid of nobody.”
A potential fight would require Rodriguez to move up significantly from 118 pounds, with a meeting at lightweight representing a 17-pound and four-division jump.
Davis is currently without a world title after losing his WBA lightweight belt due to inactivity, and his return date remains unclear.
Despite his willingness to face Davis, Rodriguez’s primary target appears to remain Naoya Inoue, with a potential fight in Japan being discussed for early 2027.
