Shakur Stevenson believes a long-awaited fight with Gervonta Davis could become the final appearance of Davis’ career.
Davis has not fought since his controversial draw with Lamont Roach in March 2025. Plans for an immediate rematch were abandoned, while a proposed exhibition with Jake Paul was later cancelled after Davis faced domestic violence allegations.
The former WBA lightweight champion is now considering a return after rejecting an opportunity to fight Floyd Schofield for his old title. Davis has since been designated WBA champion in recess at 135lbs.
Stevenson, who recently signed with Zuffa Boxing, said the significance of fighting Davis would outweigh any concern over titles or undisputed status.
“If I go fight against Tank, no one cares whether it’s for undisputed or not,” Stevenson said. “They just care that it’s the best vs the best.”
Stevenson added that Davis appears more open to the matchup than before and believes their fight could send his rival into retirement. “I think he plans on fighting me as his last fight on his way out the door,” he said.
