William Zepeda and Tevin Farmer will run it back at Poliforum Benito Juarez in Cancun, Mexico, battling for the WBC interim lightweight title in a 12-round main event streamed live on DAZN. Their first meeting last November saw Zepeda rise from a fourth-round knockdown to edge Farmer by split decision in a back-and-forth, 10-round thriller. This time around, each fighter vows to leave no doubt as to who deserves the belt.
Zepeda says he's hungry to prove his superiority beyond question. Despite hitting the canvas the last time, he overcame adversity to eke out a narrow win. Farmer believes he let Zepeda off the hook the first time, noting that rust from a 3.5-year layoff hindered his performance. Now, fully confident he’s at his best, Farmer promises not only to win, but to deliver a statement-making performance.

The WBC’s Mauricio Sulaiman confirms that both fighters are enrolled in VADA testing and that the organization is pleased to see such a highly demanded rematch. Meanwhile, Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya acknowledges Farmer’s surprising competitiveness in the first fight and expects an even more intense confrontation in the sequel. The victor could be in line for a showdown against the winner of Shakur Stevenson vs. Floyd Schofield, making the stakes that much higher.
Will Zepeda bounce back to the knockout ways he’s known for, or will Farmer harness his sharp skills to reclaim a championship strap? Both boxers have everything to gain in this second bout, especially with the winner likely launching into a major fight at lightweight.
