Matchroom Boxing’s NXTGEN card takes over Birmingham’s Utilita Arena. In the main event Galal Yafai (4-0, 3 KOs), Birmingham’s very own and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Champion, defends his WBC International Flyweight Title against Tommy Frank (15-3-1, 3 KOs) on DAZN.
Yafai, since turning professional, has remained undefeated with three of his four victories ending in a knockout. His ascension to the WBC International title was remarkable, winning it in his professional debut at London’s iconic O2. He then successfully defended the title in renowned venues such as Madison Square Garden, Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, and The O2 again this past April.
Challenging Yafai is Sheffield’s Tommy Frank, who suffered a loss in his previous bout against Jay Harris. Despite this hiccup, Frank's record remains noteworthy. With 15 wins, Frank is a former holder of the Central Area, Commonwealth, WBC International Silver, and IBO Intercontinental Flyweight titles. He is now looking to rebound by upsetting Yafai and achieving the biggest victory of his career, setting himself up for other significant fights in the Flyweight division.
In the co-main event, welterweight sensation Cyrus Pattinson (6-0, 4 KOs), fresh off a resounding victory over Chris Jenkins, looks to continue his climb in the 147lbs division against Conah Walker (11-2-1, 3 KOs).
In the undercard, Heavyweight hopeful Solomon Dacres (6-0, 2 KOs) seeks to continue his winning streak after a swift victory over Robert Ismay. Also the card features a rematch for the English Super-Featherweight Title eliminator between Oxford’s Jordan Flynn (9-0, 1 KO) and Birmingham’s Kane Baker (19-10-1, 1 KO). Super-Lightweight Khaleel Majid (10-0, 3 KOs), Middleweight Aaron Bowen (2-0, 1 KO), and Bantamweight prospect Muhammad Ali will grace the card. Adding to the excitement, Birmingham's Sahil Khan and Ibraheem Sulaimaan will be making their professional debuts.
