Francisco Rodriguez Jr. has been handed a two-year ban from boxing in the United Kingdom after testing positive for multiple banned substances following his fight with Galal Yafai.
UK Anti-Doping confirmed that Rodriguez’s post-fight sample contained octodrine, heptaminol and oxilofrine. The Mexican had defeated Yafai in June in Birmingham to claim the WBC interim flyweight title.
Rodriguez did not respond to the initial notification and was subsequently charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations. While the violations were not deemed intentional, a suspension was imposed retroactively from July 30, 2025, and will run until July 30, 2027.
Meanwhile, Yafai is expected to return later this year against Ricardo Sandoval in a bout for the WBC flyweight title.
