Undefeated junior middleweight prospect Callum Walsh will finally get his long-awaited homecoming fight as he steps into the ring against Przemyslaw Runowski on September 20 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The fight, which will stream live on UFC Fight Pass, was announced by UFC President Dana White, who has been a key supporter of Walsh’s career.
“I’m excited to announce that I will be in Dublin on September 20 for undefeated Irish boxing superstar Callum Walsh’s next fight," White shared on social media. "He will be facing Przemyslaw Runowski, who has never been finished in 25 pro fights. This is a massive opportunity for Runowski and a huge test for Callum Walsh."
Walsh, originally from Cork, Ireland, but now based in Hollywood, California, has quickly made a name for himself in the junior middleweight division. In his last outing on June 7, Walsh dominated Carlos Ortiz of Mexico, dropping him multiple times before finishing the fight in the second round. After that victory, the 23-year-old southpaw made it clear that he wanted his next fight to take place in Ireland, where he had a successful amateur career before turning pro in December 2021.
Walsh's professional journey has seen him fight exclusively in the United States, with most of his bouts taking place in Southern California and New York City. Promoted by Tom Loeffler and trained by the legendary Freddie Roach, Walsh has shown tremendous potential, particularly in his March 15 win over Dauren Yeleussinov, where he secured a stoppage in the ninth round. He also displayed resilience by overcoming a knockdown to defeat Ismael Villarreal by unanimous decision on November 9.
His opponent, Przemyslaw Runowski, hails from Slupsk, Poland, and is coming off a stoppage victory over Benjamin Lamptey on May 31. The 30-year-old has won his last four bouts since suffering a unanimous decision loss to then-unbeaten welterweight Michael McKinson in August 2021.
