No Limit Boxing has announced that Tim “The Soul Taker” Tszyu (22-0, 16 KOs) is set to face Mexico’s Carlos Ocampo (34-2, 22 KOs) in a second interim fight at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia, as part of a No Limit Pay-Per-View event.
Tszyu is currently the WBO mandatory challenger for undisputed king Jermell Charlo. Charlo is still recovering from a severe hand injury that postponed their January 28 clash in Las Vegas.
The 28-year-old Tszyu, a second-generation boxer from Rockdale, recently claimed the interim WBO 154-pound title in a ninth-round knockout of former WBC titlist Tony Harrison on March 12 in Sydney. Ocampo, who is not currently ranked by the WBO, is expected to have his ranking resolved by fight night. This will be Tszyu’s second consecutive fight on home soil, following a twelve-round victory over former title challenger Terrell Gausha in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Tszyu has been able to return to Australia, where he has been a top gate attraction, due to circumstances beyond his control. His fight against Ocampo will be his first in Queensland since defeating former WBO welterweight titlist Jeff Horn in August 2020. Tszyu, the son of Hall of Fame former undisputed 140-pound king Kostya Tszyu, is eager to land a championship of his own, but for now, he settles for his second fight in three months.
The 27-year-old Ocampo from Ensenada, Baja California, will be making his first career fight outside of the Americas after eleven years as a pro. His last fight was a twelve-round defeat to then-unbeaten interim WBC junior middleweight titlist Sebastian Fundora in October 2021.
The event also features an IBF junior featherweight title eliminator between Ra’eese Aleem (20-0, 12 KOs) and Sam Goodman (14-0, 7 KOs), with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger to the recently crowned WBA/IBF junior featherweight titlist Marlon Tapales (37-3, 19 KOs).
The main event fighters are expected to make their ring walks at approximately midnight ET.
