Knockout artist Dalton “Thunder” Smith faces Commonwealth titlist Sam “The Powerhouse” Maxwell in the 12-round super lightweight clash, which headlines DAZN boxing night at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield on July 1st.

Hailing from Sheffield, the undefeated Dalton Smith is all set to electrify his hometown crowd for the second time. He’s laser-focused on securing the coveted Lord Lonsdale Challenge belt outright, following his impressive victories over local rival Sam O’Maison, Kaisee Benjamin, and Billy Allington. Smith’s meteoric rise has garnered him an array of titles, including the WBA Intercontinental, WBC International Silver, and British Title. Now, he has his sights set on adding Maxwell’s Commonwealth Title to his trophy case and inching closer to a dream World Title shot at Hillsborough in 2024.

Liverpool’s own Sam Maxwell brings a fearsome reputation as a former WBO European and British Champion at 140lbs. Eager to reclaim the British Title, he’s banking on his experience and recent wins over Akeem Ennis-Brown and Shaun Cooper. Maxwell’s blend of skill and raw power makes him a formidable challenger in this high-stakes bout.

Smith shares his excitement and determination, stating, “It will be an honor to win the Lonsdale belt outright on July 1 in my home city and etch my name in the history books while also claiming the Commonwealth Title. Every British fighter dreams of the Lord Lonsdale Challenge Belt, so securing it permanently is a monumental milestone. I know Sam’s a fierce competitor with a powerful punch, but I’m confident my skillset and the electric atmosphere of my hometown supporters will carry me to victory.”

In the co-main event, Pat McCormack (4-0, 3 KOs) of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear squares off with Tony Dixon (14-4, 4 KOs) of Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.

Tickets for this event are priced at £40, £60, £100, and £200 (VIP).
