Rolando “Rolly” Romero will defend his WBA welterweight title against Teofimo Lopez Jr. on August 22 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The all-American clash will be available live on DAZN Pay-Per-View, DAZN Ultimate and DAZN on Prime. Romero enters as the WBA welterweight titleholder after defeating Ryan Garcia last May in Times Square, and this will be the first defense of his belt.
Lopez moves up to 147lbs after losing his WBO light welterweight title to Shakur Stevenson in January. A win would make him a world champion in a third weight class and put him back into the pound-for-pound conversation after a damaging defeat in New York.

For Romero, the fight is a chance to prove his win over Garcia was not a one-off. A successful defense could push him toward bigger fights in a crowded welterweight scene, including possible clashes with Devin Haney, a Garcia rematch or even Stevenson if he moves up.

The stakes may be even higher for Lopez. Long viewed as one of American boxing’s most talented fighters, he needs a strong response after the Stevenson loss. Another defeat would leave him with a difficult rebuild, while victory would instantly revive his career at a new weight.
