Former boxer and analyst Spencer Oliver believes Rolando “Rolly” Romero could exploit Teofimo Lopez’s struggles when opponents apply sustained pressure.

“Teo looks a shadow of his former self,” Oliver said. “Sometimes when he’s good, he’s unbelievable. When he’s poor, he’s really poor.”

Lopez will face Romero on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, moving up to welterweight against a naturally bigger and powerful opponent.

The argument is based on previous fights in which Lopez struggled when opponents refused to back away, including bouts with Masayoshi Nakatani, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Sandor Martin and Jamaine Ortiz. Lopez has also scored only one stoppage in seven appearances at 140 pounds.

Romero, meanwhile, showed his strength at 147 pounds when he dropped Ryan Garcia on his way to a unanimous decision victory. Oliver believes similar pressure could test Lopez’s confidence and composure on Saturday night.
