Agit Kabayel is set to return to the ring on January 10 in his home country, taking on unbeaten Polish heavyweight Damian Knyba in what promises to be one of the first major heavyweight clashes of 2026. The bout, held at Rudolf Weber Arena and broadcast live on DAZN, will mark Kabayel’s first fight in nearly a year.
The WBC Interim heavyweight champion, Kabayel (26-0, 18 KOs) risks both his undefeated record and his high world ranking in this dangerous matchup. Standing across from him will be the towering 6'8" Knyba (17-0, 11 KOs), who enters the bout with momentum after scoring three straight knockout victories in 2025.
Kabayel has been out of action since February, when he stopped Zhilei Zhang with a punishing body attack. That victory elevated his standing as a legitimate title contender and reinforced his reputation for durability and smart pressure fighting.
A big home crowd is expected in Oberhausen as Kabayel looks to follow in the footsteps of German legend Max Schmeling and bring another world championship back to Germany. While Kabayel will be the favorite, Knyba’s size, power, and confidence make this a genuine threat. When two heavyweights collide at this level, as always, one punch can change everything.
The co-main event includes an interim lightweight title fight between undefeated prospect Jadier Herrera and veteran Ricardo Nunez.
Herrera (17-0, 15 KOs) is a 23-year-old Cuban prospect who has stopped nine straight opponents and carries notable size for the division at 5-foot-11. While still developing, his power has been a defining trait and will be a key factor as he steps into his first interim title fight.
Nunez (26-7, 22 KOs) brings experience and power, though his recent form includes setbacks. He suffered a three-fight losing streak to Alberty Batyrgaziev, Zaur Abdullaev, and Masanori Rikiishi, and most recently was disqualified for shots after the bell in a bout against Jon Fernandez at 140 pounds. Even so, Nunez remains a dangerous opponent capable of testing Herrera if the younger fighter leaves openings.
