Andy Ruiz Jr. will make his Matchroom debut against Damian Knyba on September 4 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The heavyweight bout will headline the September edition of “The Fight,” which will stream on DAZN and air on TNT in the United States. The card is being co-promoted by Matchroom and Top Rank.
Ruiz has fought only three times since losing his rematch with Anthony Joshua in 2019. He defeated Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz before drawing with Jarrell Miller in August 2024.
The 36-year-old will return from another layoff of more than two years against Knyba, a 6ft 7in Polish heavyweight based in New Jersey.
Knyba is coming off a third-round stoppage loss to Agit Kabayel in January, but his size could create problems for Ruiz as the former champion attempts to rebuild his career.
Vito Mielnicki Jr. will face Austin “Ammo” Williams in the chief support. Mielnicki enters after defeating Omar Huerta, while Williams is looking to recover from his March loss to WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames.
