Sunny Edwards and Galal Yafai are set to face off in a highly anticipated flyweight showdown at the BP Pulse Arena in Birmingham on November 30. The former IBF World Champion Edwards and Olympic gold medalist Yafai have been on a collision course since Yafai turned professional in 2022. Now, the two British rivals will battle it out in what promises to be a thrilling contest, broadcast live on DAZN.
Edwards earned his IBF Flyweight World Championship by defeating Moruti Mthalane in 2021. Despite a successful run with four title defenses, Edwards suffered his first career defeat in a unification bout against Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez in December 2023. Having returned to winning ways in June, Edwards is now set to return to the UK and close out the year with a major fight against Yafai.

Yafai, who claimed the WBC International Flyweight title on his professional debut, has steadily built an impressive resume. The 2020 Olympic gold medalist is undefeated in his pro career and is coming off a win against Agustin Gauto earlier this year. The fight against Edwards will be his biggest test to date, and Yafai is confident that a victory will put him on the path to a world title shot.

"This fight has always been inevitable," said Edwards. "Our last names hold weight in British boxing, and it’s time to settle the Edwards-Yafai saga once and for all. I beat Galal back in 2015, and now it’s time to show who the real golden boy is."
"I’m happy this fight has been made," said Yafai. "This is going to be a massive fight for British boxing, and a win in my hometown will put me on the cusp of fighting for a world title."
In the co-main event, Chelmsley Wood’s Ryan Kelly (19-4-1, 8 KOs) is gearing up for a major opportunity as he faces Kieron Conway (21-3-1, 6 KOs) for the vacant Commonwealth middleweight title on November 30 at Resorts World in Birmingham. Headlining the night is Galal Yafai vs. Sunny Edwards in a world flyweight title fight, but Kelly-Conway promises to be a standout battle on the undercard.
The 30-year-old Kelly, nicknamed “Ruthless,” has already proven himself at the regional level, capturing the silver Commonwealth belt by defeating River Wilson-Bent in a bout named Midlands Fight of the Year. However, his last outing in June ended in a disappointing draw against Gerome Warburton, and Kelly is determined to make amends on the big stage.
Conway, a seasoned campaigner from Northampton, brings championship experience to the matchup. At 28, he has shared the ring with the likes of Ted Cheeseman, James Metcalf, and Linus Udofia, showcasing his skills at the domestic and international levels. While Conway has tasted defeat three times in his 25-fight career, his pedigree makes him a tough challenge for Kelly.
