Biography
Joshua Buatsi, hailing from Croydon, England, is a rising star in the world of professional boxing. Born on March 14, 1993, Buatsi has quickly gained attention for his explosive power, technical skills, and relentless work ethic. With an impressive amateur background and a string of notable victories as a professional, Buatsi has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the light heavyweight division.
Buatsi's boxing journey began in the amateur ranks, where he excelled on the international stage. He represented Great Britain at the 2016 Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the light heavyweight division. Buatsi turned professional in 2017 and has since showcased his immense talent, consistently delivering exciting performances and demonstrating his ability to dominate opponents with his powerful punches and calculated aggression.
One of Buatsi's most notable victories came in 2021 when he faced off against experienced contender Daniel Dos Santos. Buatsi put on a masterclass display of boxing, utilizing his sharp jab, devastating body shots, and excellent footwork to overwhelm Dos Santos, ultimately scoring a fourth-round knockout. This win solidified Buatsi's position as a rising star in the division and showcased his potential to become a future world champion.
Technical Overview
Joshua Buatsi operates from an upright orthodox stance where he has his elbows tucked in so that his arms are always in front of him. This allows him to specialize in straight punches as his gloves are already closer to the target when held like this. Buatsi specializes in a sharp jab that he is able to shoot straight from his stance. These jabs can be followed up with fast straight right hands that are also thrown straight from the guard with no telegraph. Buatsi usually likes to operate at a range where straight punches are most effective and this usually invites straight punches in return from his opponent. Since Buatsi already holds his arms in front of him with his elbows tucked in, he is already in the position to defend the punches. One of his best tactics is to shoot his jab, which invites the jab from his opponent, and then he counters the expected jab with a counter right hand.
