Joshua Buatsi (17-0, 13 KOs), WBA’s No. 1 contender, faces the No. 2 contender Dan “Super” Azeez (19-0, 13 KOs) in England. The event will be broadcast live and exclusively on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland and Peacock in the USA. Initially, the fight should have occurred on the 21st of October but Dan Azeez withdrew from that bout with a pinched nerve.

Both fighters have held their rankings since November 2022. The victor of this matchup will earn a mandatory title shot against WBA Super champion Dmitry Bivol.

Buatsi, originally from Accra, Ghana but now based in London, boosted his standing with ten consecutive knockout wins. This streak culminated in a unanimous decision victory against the former world title challenger and then WBA No. 10, Craig Richards. Buatsi’s last fight saw him defeat former Polish Champion and undefeated Pawel Stepien, also by unanimous decision.

Azeez, hailing from Lewisham, London, ascended the WBA rankings with significant victories over the past year. He secured a top ten ranking with a knockout victory over Reece Cartwright, and a subsequent win against Shaken Pitters propelled him to his current No. 2 position.

Adam Azim recently made history by becoming the quickest Englishman to win the European title, a record previously held by notable champions like Spencer Oliver and 'Prince' Naseem Hamed. His victory over Franck Petitjean in Wolverhampton not only crowned him as the European king but also marked him as the first British-Pakistani to claim the prestigious blue and gold belt. At just 21 years old, Azim’s accomplishment is a testament to his rising status in the boxing world.
