Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela will get his chance at revenge when he faces Edwin De Los Santos in a rematch on June 28 at The Cosmopolitan Resort’s Chelsea Ballroom in Las Vegas.
The fight will headline Zuffa Boxing 8 on Paramount+ and marks Zuffa Boxing’s first U.S. card outside the Meta Apex. Valenzuela (15-3, 9 KOs) enters as a former WBA 140lbs titleholder, while De Los Santos (17-2, 15 KOs) comes in as a former lightweight title challenger.
Their first meeting in 2022 ended with De Los Santos stopping Valenzuela in the third round after dropping him multiple times. Valenzuela has since argued that the result did not reflect the fighter he truly is, saying he entered that bout under difficult physical conditions and learned from the loss.
Valenzuela rebuilt his career by defeating Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz to win the 140lbs title in 2024 and recently opened Zuffa Boxing’s first card with a unanimous decision win over Diego Torres on February 1.

De Los Santos later challenged Shakur Stevenson for the WBC lightweight title in 2023, then returned with a first-round stoppage of Eliot Chavez before joining Zuffa Boxing.
With both fighters now under the Zuffa banner, the rematch gives Valenzuela the redemption opportunity he asked for, while De Los Santos gets the chance to prove the first result was no accident.
