Osleys Iglesias will finally have both an opponent and a date for his long-awaited world title opportunity. His bout against unbeaten Russian contender Pavel Silyagin for the vacant IBF super middleweight title is scheduled for April 9 in Montreal, according to a social media announcement from RCC Boxing, which promotes Silyagin.
The fight continues Iglesias’ deep ties with Quebec, which has become his fighting home. The 28-year-old Cuban has boxed his last five bouts in the province building a strong local following after turning professional in Germany before relocating to Canada.
Iglesias enters the title fight in destructive form, having compiled a 14-0 record with 13 knockouts. His recent run includes stoppage wins over Marcelo Coceres, Evgeny Shvedenko, Sena Agbeko, Petro Ivanov, and most recently Vladimir Shishkin, whom he halted in the eighth round last September in an IBF title eliminator at 168 pounds.
That victory positioned Iglesias perfectly once the division opened up. Nine days after his win over Shishkin, Terence Crawford defeated Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to become undisputed super middleweight champion, before retiring and vacating all four major belts. As the IBF worked its way down the rankings, several contenders declined the opportunity for various reasons, leaving the door open for a willing challenger.
Silyagin, rated seventh by the IBF, stepped forward. The 32-year-old Russian owns a 16-0-1 record with seven knockouts and has won three straight since a 2023 draw with Shvedenko. He boxed just once in 2025, delivering a dominant performance against previously unbeaten Pablo Exequiel Corzo, and now travels to Montreal with a world title on the line.
