Troy Williamson has been formally contacted by the IBF regarding a potential vacant super middleweight title fight against Osleys Iglesias, placing the British contender on a short clock to decide his next move. Both camps were notified on Monday and given three days to confirm their availability to enter negotiations.

Williamson entered the picture after Hamzah Sheeraz declined to continue in the IBF process. Fresh off the biggest win of his career over unbeaten Callum Simpson in December, Williamson has publicly welcomed the opportunity. The victory vaulted him into the IBF’s top six, positioning him directly in line for a career-defining title shot.

However, the situation is not entirely straightforward. It is rumored that Williamson’s win over Simpson came with an immediate rematch clause. While the IBF does not recognize such contractual terms, it could legally restrict Williamson from committing to another fight.

If Williamson is unable to proceed, the path clears for Pavel Silyagin, the undefeated Russian ranked just below him at No. 7. Silyagin is currently without a scheduled bout and has already expressed readiness to fight for his first major world title, making him a logical fallback option for the sanctioning body.

The IBF’s search for an opponent has already seen several notable names pass. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez remains sidelined following surgery, Jaime Munguia is pursuing alternative title opportunities, and Sheeraz is tied up with separate negotiations for the WBC and WBO belts. Through it all, Iglesias has stayed ready, awaiting confirmation of which contender will finally meet him for the vacant IBF crown.
