Alycia Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs), the reigning WBC junior lightweight champion, is set to make her return to the ring in Atlanta, as she will defend her 130-pound WBC title against Belgium's Delfine Persoon (49-3, 19 KOs). This will be Baumgardner’s first fight since successfully defending her undisputed championship against Christina Linardatou last July.

The fight will take place at the Lux Stage at Trilith Studios in Atlanta and will be available to stream for free on Brinx.TV and Fubo Sports. The $500,000 purse bid for this mandatory title defense is a record amount for a WBC women’s title fight.

Baumgardner’s return comes after she was cleared of any wrongdoing following a positive test for a banned substance taken three days before her last fight. After a thorough investigation, the WBC found her "not guilty of intentional ingestion or consumption of a banned substance for performance-enhancement purposes," and her temporary suspension was lifted by the Association of Boxing Commissions in March.

Delfine Persoon, a former champion and a trailblazer in women's boxing, is set to challenge Baumgardner after securing a split decision win over Bo Mi Re Shin in May 2023. Persoon, who is ESPN's No. 10 pound-for-pound boxer, is perhaps best known for her two close fights against Irish star Katie Taylor in 2019.

Baumgardner, who is promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, has her sights set on even bigger challenges after this fight. As she approaches free agency, she’s targeting the winner of the upcoming Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano rematch for the undisputed 140-pound championship. Baumgardner expressed her desire to face either of these boxing icons, stating, "Give me Katie, give me Amanda... I can definitely go to 140."
