Biography
Skye Nicolson (Skye Brittany Nicolson, born 27 August 1995 in Meadowbrook, Queensland, Australia) is an Australian professional boxer who competes in the featherweight and super-bantamweight divisions. A southpaw standing 5 ft 5½ in (166 cm) with a 68½-inch reach, she is a former WBC female featherweight world champion and has held the WBC interim super-bantamweight title since December 2025. Before turning professional, she enjoyed a highly successful amateur career, winning gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the 2016 World Championships, as well as representing Australia at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Nicolson grew up on the Gold Coast and began boxing at the age of 12 at the Jamie Nicolson Memorial Gym, named after her late brother. She built an impressive amateur record of 107–32, highlighted by her Commonwealth Games triumph and Olympic qualification. After reaching the quarter-finals at the Tokyo Olympics, she transitioned to the professional ranks in March 2022, quickly establishing herself as a technically skilled and highly mobile boxer with a strong amateur foundation.
Her rise in the professional ranks was rapid. She captured the Commonwealth featherweight title in 2022, followed by the WBC Silver title in early 2023, and later that year claimed the interim WBC featherweight title. In April 2024, Nicolson reached the pinnacle of her career by defeating Sarah Mahfoud via unanimous decision to win the WBC featherweight world title. She successfully defended the belt against Dyana Vargas and Raven Chapman.
Nicolson’s reign ended in March 2025, when she lost a split decision to Tiara Brown. She then moved down to the super-bantamweight division, where she rebuilt momentum with stoppage victories and claimed the IBF Intercontinental title. In December 2025, she defeated Yulihan Luna to become interim WBC super-bantamweight champion, positioning herself once again among the top fighters in women’s boxing.
