Technical Overview

Villa, known as “Flaco de Oro” (which translates to “Skinny Gold”), has a frame that belies his power. Despite his lean appearance, Villa possesses devastating knockout ability, with his power more than matching his physicality. His style is a blend of classical pressure and the fiery passion of South America, reflecting the rhythm of music in his movements. His body moves in sync with the cadence of the fight, like a dance where every step is calculated, but his willpower often forces the music to bend to his body’s rhythm.

Villa can be criticized for occasionally dropping his hands as he goes to the body, leaving him open to counters, but what sets him apart is his resolve. He takes punches and keeps coming, proving time and time again that he’s willing to withstand any beating to land his own. Like Eminem’s line, “the bones give out, the legs give out, until they can’t shut the mouth,” Villa fights until the end, pushing his body beyond its limits, forcing his opponents to submit to his relentless attack.

He thrives in a brawl, bringing his power to bear as he overwhelms his opponents with combinations, especially when they’re backed into the ropes. His style may appear two-dimensional at times, but the pressure he brings is relentless, much like a classic, intense game of “put and take,” where every move is calculated. Villa’s approach may seem simple to some, but it’s effective. He’ll press forward until the fight is his, breaking his opponent’s resolve the same way a headspring toy knocks its target over. It’s a methodical, brutal game, and Villa is always the one dictating the tempo.
