Sampson Lewkowicz, Roiman Villa’s promoter, is now more assured than ever that no welterweight fighter can stand against Jaron Ennis after witnessing Ennis’s performance on Saturday night. Lewkowicz forecasts that neither Errol Spence Jr. nor Terence Crawford will risk facing Ennis, and he expects both, regardless of their outcome in the Spence-Crawford bout, to move up from the welterweight division to the junior middleweight limit post their duel.

Ennis managed to defend his IBF interim welterweight title by flooring Villa in the tenth round on Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall’s Adrian Phillips Theater. Despite Ennis being the next contender for Spence’s IBF belt, Lewkowicz opines that this won't matter once Spence and Crawford finish their face-off.

Ennis’s impressive knockout of Villa using a left-right combination in the tenth round, making him the first fighter to stop Villa since Villa’s pro debut eight years ago, further underlines Lewkowicz’s point. Meanwhile, Crawford and Spence have rematch clauses in their contracts for their title unification fight, with the loser getting the option for an immediate rematch within 30 days of their main event.

Post his victory over Villa, Ennis expressed keen interest in facing the winner of the Spence-Crawford match, signifying his readiness to take on whoever emerges victorious from the much-anticipated showdown.
