Biography

Moses Itauma was born on December 28, 2004 in England he is a British heavyweight boxer who gained attention after winning the 2022 Youth World Championships and Youth European Championships. In the amateurs he became a two time European youth champion and won gold at the 2022 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships. He made his professional debut on January 28, 2023 against Marcel Bode in London winning by technical knockout in the first round.

In his second fight he faced Ramon Ibarra on March 25, 2023 and secured another first round technical knockout. On May 27, 2023 he fought Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko and won by unanimous decision after four rounds. In his fourth professional bout he defeated Kevin Espindola on July 15, 2023 by points over six rounds. He continued his undefeated streak with a win over Amine Boucetta on September 23, 2023 winning by technical knockout in the first round. His sixth professional fight took place on December 23, 2023 against Michal Boloz which he won by second round knockout.

As a British heavyweight he follows in the footsteps of historic figures like Lennox Lewis Frank Bruno and Henry Cooper who each carried the weight of national pride into the ring. The UK has a deep history of producing world class heavyweights and Moses Itauma represents the new generation aiming to add his name to that legacy while staying grounded in his local community.

Technical Overview

Moses Itauma is very good at controlling momentum shifts during a fight using changes in tempo and rhythm to break his opponents flow. He attacks the vertical line by targeting the head and body in quick succession often feinting high then switching to a low attack or starting with a soft pawing jab before releasing a powerful shot. His initial touches may seem light but they serve to measure distance and draw reactions setting up heavier punches later in the exchange. He is also skilled at reading opponents who fight tall or overextend catching them as they move up and down or forcing them to swing low while he stays compact and balanced. This ability to manipulate space and reaction makes him effective against fighters who rely on reach or height.

Moses Itauma uses combinations that reflect the traditional British heavyweight style which focuses on a sharp jab straight punches and inside control. One of his main combinations is the double jab followed by a straight left hand and a right hook to the body. This mirrors the work done by British southpaws and left hand dominant fighters like Lennox Lewis and Joe Calzaghe who often used the jab to set range before committing to power shots. Moses also uses the jab lead uppercut and right hook which is a combination that Frank Bruno used to wear opponents down over multiple rounds.

Moses trains to be efficient with movement and shot selection. He stays close to the center of the ring and uses high and low to stay balanced. This approach is similar to the old school British heavyweight system taught in clubs across England where timing and control were more important than volume. His coaching focuses on balance defense and short range punching with an emphasis on bodywork. Like Henry Cooper who relied on the left hook and Lennox Lewis who used a stiff jab and cross Moses stays behind his jab and waits for the opening to land clean power.

Strategically Moses follows the traditional British method of building control early with the jab and body shots and slowly breaking the opponent down round by round. British heavyweights often rely on disciplined technique rather than reckless exchanges and Moses continues that tradition. He represents the next generation of British heavyweights who are blending the old fundamentals with modern timing and physical strength.
