Biography

Andy Hiraoka (born August 8, 1996, in Yokohama, Japan) is an undefeated Japanese professional boxer competing in the lightweight and super lightweight divisions. Nicknamed “The Blade,” Hiraoka is a tall southpaw with a 74-inch reach, known for his sharp timing, body punching and finishing ability. Born to a Ghanaian father and Japanese mother, he began boxing at just four years old and later refined his skills in Los Angeles before returning to Japan to continue his rise.

Hiraoka turned professional in 2013 and steadily built momentum on the domestic scene. After joining Ohashi Boxing Gym, he captured the Japanese and WBO Asia Pacific super lightweight titles in 2021 with an 11th-round stoppage of Jin Sasaki. Throughout 2022, he defended his regional belts with dominant TKO victories over Cristiano Aoki, Shun Akaiwa, Alvin Lagumbay and Min Ho Jung, establishing himself as one of Japan’s most dangerous contenders at 140 pounds. In 2023, he relinquished his regional titles to pursue a world opportunity.

That opportunity came on September 3, 2024, when Hiraoka stopped veteran contender Ismael Barroso in nine rounds at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, scoring multiple knockdowns to secure a statement victory and earn a shot at a world title. With a perfect professional record of 24 wins, including 19 by knockout, Hiraoka has positioned himself among the leading names in the super lightweight division.
