The undercard for Ryan Garcia vs. Mario Barrios has surfaced, and instead of strengthening the case for a DAZN pay-per-view, it has raised more questions than answers.
As it stands, the announced supporting bouts include Armando Reséndiz vs. Edgar Berlanga, Gary Antuanne Russell vs. Andy Hiraoka, and Lester Martínez vs. TBA. Reséndiz vs. Berlanga is reportedly being positioned as the co-feature which can feel out of step with recent form. Berlanga has lost two of his last three fights and was knocked out in his most recent outing, and so, framed as a PPV-level co-main event, the matchup risks feeling like promotion by name rather than by merit.
Russell vs. Hiraoka adds rankings but not much intrigue. While Hiraoka is well placed on paper, the fight lacks storyline or visible stakes for the broader audience.
More bouts are expected to be added, with Turki Alalshikh listed as a sponsor but the event is still operated under the PBC banner.
