The 26-year-old Japanese star has built an impressive resume, including victories over future junior flyweight titleholder Masamichi Yabuki and former 108-pound titleholder Milan Melindo. Nakatani claimed the vacant WBO flyweight title against Giemel Magramo and has successfully defended it several times. His latest victory was a TKO win over Alexandro Santiago, earning him the WBC 118-pound title.

Astrolabio is ranked No. 7 by The Ring at bantamweight. The Filipino fighter's career has seen both significant victories and setbacks. His major breakthrough came with a unanimous decision win over Guillermo Rigondeaux and a knockout victory over Nikolai Potapov. Although he lost a close fight to Andrew Moloney for the vacant WBO title, he secured his shot at Nakatani by defeating Nawaphon Sor Rungvisai in a title eliminator.
