It’s official - Naoya Inoue and Junto Nakatani will collide on May 2 at the Tokyo Dome, with the undisputed junior featherweight championship on the line.
The fight had been building for months, but confirmation finally locks in what is widely seen as the biggest all-Japan showdown in modern boxing. Both men enter unbeaten, both sit high on pound-for-pound lists, and both have been moving toward each other with purpose.
Inoue, one of the sport’s defining fighters, comes in after a busy 2025. Four wins over Kim Ye-Joon, Ramon Cardenas, Murodjon Akhmadaliev and David Picasso kept him active and sharp. Especially his final outing of the year secured the moment fans had been waiting for, with Nakatani also winning on the same card to set up this clash.

Nakatani, though, isn’t stepping in as the B-side quietly. Already a three-division champion, he’s chasing history. The goal is clear - become a four-division champion and take over the division.
The undercard adds even more weight to the night, with Takuma Inoue defending his title against Kazuto Ioka.
