WBA featherweight champion Brandon Figueroa has expressed interest in facing Naoya Inoue when the Japanese star eventually moves up to 126lbs.

Inoue has already won world titles in four divisions and is expected to pursue a fifth after completing his remaining business at super bantamweight. A fight with Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez has been linked for early 2027 before a possible move to featherweight.

Figueroa believes a showdown with Inoue is realistic, although his immediate focus remains on Tomoki Kameda.

“Of course, why not?” Figueroa said when asked about facing Inoue. “I feel like that is a very doable fight and it might be in the works, but as of right now, I am focused on Tomoki Kameda.”

Figueroa is expected to defend his WBA title against Kameda, with the fight potentially taking place in Japan in October.
