Davies vs. Cunningham

July 29, 2023 | Telford International Centre, England

Network: BT Sport

Fight Details

Four titles will be on the line when undefeated WBC International and European champion Liam Davies and former Euro-king and now WBO International champion Jason Cunningham meet each other in the main event at the Telford International Centre on Saturday 29th July, live on TNT Sports (the new name for BT Sport from 18th July).

The 27-year-old Davies is confident about adding another win to his record. His sights are set on a world title and he’s not one to shy away from a challenge, as evidenced by his recent social media spat with Cunningham regarding a sparring session that the latter denies ever happened. “Everyone knows I’m going to beat him,” Davies stated, oozing confidence ahead of the much-awaited fight.

Jason Cunningham, also known as “The Iceman,” sees things differently. At 33 years old, he’s eager to reclaim his lost titles and prove his supremacy in the super bantamweight category. Cunningham dismisses Davies’s claims about their sparring session and warns him to focus on training, stating, “The main thing for Liam is he needs to get cracking in the gym because he looks like he is carrying a bit of timber!”

In addition to the main event, the fight card includes promising talent like Eithan James (11-0, 0 KOs) aiming for his first pro title, cruiserweight prospect Oronzo Birardi (6-0, 5 KOs), Midlands Area welterweight champion Owen Cooper (8-0, 2 KOs), and several other exciting bouts. Warren added, “What we’ve got is a young and hungry champion on the up against an experienced and proven campaigner looking to put him in his place.”
