Teremoana Teremoana

Teremoana Samson Junior Leon Teremoana (born 17 February 1998) is an Australian professional boxer who competes in the heavyweight division. Born in Campbelltown, New South Wales, and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Teremoana is of Cook Islands and Scottish heritage. Standing 6 ft 6 in (198 cm) and fighting from an orthodox stance, he represented Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games before fully committing to his professional career.

Teremoana began boxing at the age of 12 after being introduced to the sport by his father. Before focusing on boxing full-time, he also played rugby league and later worked as a plumber. His amateur career peaked with gold at the 2023 Pacific Games, which secured his Olympic qualification. In Paris, he scored a first-round knockout over Dmytro Lovchynskyi before losing in the quarter-finals to reigning Olympic champion Bakhodir Jalolov.

After signing with Matchroom Boxing in late 2024, Teremoana quickly established himself as one of Australia’s most dangerous heavyweight prospects. He recorded a series of early stoppage victories over opponents including Volodymyr Katsuk, Osasu Otobo, James Singh, Aleem Whitfield, Curtis Harper, and Bowie Tupou, with several of those wins coming in the opening round.

Known for his size, power and aggressive finishing ability, Teremoana has also become recognisable for performing the traditional Pe'e ceremonial dance after victories in honour of his Cook Islands heritage.
