Paulo Aokuso is an Australian professional boxer competing in the light heavyweight division. Nicknamed "Sweet P," Aokuso was born in Sydney, Australia, and represented Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games before turning professional in 2022. A member of the Queensland Academy of Boxing, he is regarded as one of Australia's leading light heavyweight talents.
Aokuso enjoyed a successful amateur career, qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics after notable victories over Manh Nguyen and 2019 World Championship silver medallist Dilshod Ruzmetov at the Asia-Oceania Olympic qualifier. Although he was narrowly defeated by Gazimagomed Jalidov in the Olympic round of 16, his performances established him among Australia's top amateur boxers.
Since entering the professional ranks, Aokuso has progressed quickly, capturing the ANBF Australasian light heavyweight title in his debut before adding the IBO Inter-Continental light heavyweight title with a unanimous decision over experienced Cuban Yunieski Gonzalez. He has also recorded notable victories against former world title challenger Gabriel Omar Diaz, former IBO champion Renold Quinlan, and Emmanuel Danso, continuing his rise through the professional ranks.
