Nathaniel Collins

Nathaniel Collins is a Scottish southpaw from Hamilton who built his career largely outside the spotlight before breaking through as a title-level featherweight. He started boxing after being introduced to the sport by his cousin Ryan Collins and has worked with trainer Joe Ham Sr. since his teenage years. His amateur career included representing Scotland at the 2016 Commonwealth Games.

Collins turned professional with an unusually direct approach to development. Rather than relying on a carefully managed record, he repeatedly pushed for meaningful fights and built his experience against opponents willing to test him. His breakthrough came with a Commonwealth title run before he added the WBC Silver featherweight championship to his résumé.

A major setback came shortly after his victory over Francesco Grandelli, when Collins was hospitalized with a life-threatening twisted bowel that required emergency surgery. He feared his boxing career was over, but returned to the ring months later and quickly regained momentum.

His comeback culminated in a fourth-round stoppage of Lee McGregor to win the WBC Silver title, reinforcing Collins' reputation as a fighter who actively looks for difficult challenges rather than padding his record. Now part of the Queensberry ranks, “The Nightmare” has moved from being a largely self-made Scottish champion to a serious contender on the international featherweight scene.
