Biography

Josh Wagner is a Canadian professional boxer born on October 22, 1992, competing in the welterweight division. Nicknamed “The Boss,” Wagner was born in Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, where he also resides and trains.

Wagner began his professional career in Western Canada, fighting regularly in Alberta during his early years. He gradually developed through a series of victories over regional opposition, earning stoppage wins against fighters such as Akira Morita, Luke Moore, Steve Conkin, and David Aucoin. Although inactive for several years after 2015, Wagner returned to competition in 2020 and quickly revitalized his career with an upset victory over the previously unbeaten Raphael Courchesne.

From 2021 onward, Wagner established himself as one of the top Canadian welterweights. He recorded important victories over undefeated prospect Jeffrey Torres and experienced opponents including Uriel Hernandez, David Martinez Chavez, and Fernando Silva.

A major breakthrough came in September 2022, when Wagner defeated Jorge Perez Sanchez via ninth-round technical knockout to capture the vacant IBA Intercontinental welterweight title. He continued his momentum with a stoppage victory over Yaser Yuksel and dominant decision wins against Xhuljo Vrenozi and previously unbeaten Colombian fighter Williams Andres Herrera, winning the vacant IBO Americas welterweight title.

In 2023, Wagner further strengthened his résumé by stopping veteran Abraham Juarez Ramirez and then scoring one of the biggest wins of his career in April 2024, when he outboxed the highly regarded Geronimo Manuel Vazquez over ten rounds to win the IBF International welterweight title.

Later in 2024, Wagner suffered a setback when he faced unbeaten French contender David Papot for the IBF International and WBO Global welterweight titles in Nantes, France. After a competitive fight, Wagner was stopped in the seventh round, marking the first knockout loss of his professional career. He rebounded in 2025 with a quick stoppage win over Juvenal Herrera in Colombia before losing a unanimous decision to undefeated British contender Harlem Eubank in Brighton, England.
