Biography

Jared Anderson, also known by his nickname “The Real Big Baby”, was born on November 16, 1999. Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Anderson has made a significant impact in the world of boxing with his power, technique, and determination. As an amateur, Anderson honed his skills and achieved notable success, including winning the 2017 and 2018 U.S. National Championships.

Anderson’s professional boxing career started when he signed a multi-year promotional contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank in September 2019 and made his professional debut a month later, scoring a first-round knockout victory over Daniel Infante. His power and agility have made him a challenging opponent, and he has consistently demonstrated his boxing prowess by winning numerous professional fights. Some of his key career highlights include winning the NABF Junior heavyweight title in 2021, and the WBO International heavyweight title in 2022 against Jerry Forrest.

Anderson’s most notable fights include a victory over the previously undefeated Vladimir Tereshkin in October 2021, where he won the vacant NABF Junior heavyweight title. He also had a remarkable win against Oleksandr Teslenko in December 2021, where he won the bout via a second-round technical knockout. In 2023, Anderson continued to dominate the ring, retaining the WBO International heavyweight title and winning the vacant WBC International heavyweight title against George Arias.

Technical Overview

Anderson’s technique involves utilizing his reach advantage, stepping slightly out of range before swiftly stepping into the optimal striking range. His jab, executed with precision, extends fully and returns quickly, while his power punch, typically delivered with his dominant hand, incorporates hip rotation and weight transfer for maximum impact. Similar to boxing greats like Winky Wright, Anderson demonstrates a combination of defensive prowess and offensive aggression. Much like Wright’s impregnable guard, Anderson’s defensive strategy involves subtle arm adjustments to deflect or diffuse incoming punches. By reinforcing his blocks with both arms and maintaining guard attachment to his opponent’s punches, Anderson minimizes damage and traps his opponents into making costly mistakes. Furthermore, Anderson utilizes head movement and footwork to reposition his guard, effectively diffusing the force of his opponent’s punches and creating new angles for counterattacks. Drawing inspiration from successful peers like Shakur Stevenson and under the guidance of world-renowned trainer Bomac, Anderson incorporates nuanced footwork, mirroring the techniques of his mentors. He strategically uses both his front and back legs to enhance his jabbing and circular motion, enabling him to control the distance and rhythm of the fight while setting up offensive combinations.
