Biography

Immanuwel Aleem is an American professional boxer competing in the middleweight division. Born in East Meadow, New York, and fighting out of Richmond, Virginia, Aleem stands 5 ft 9 in (175 cm) with a 70-inch reach, fighting from an aggressive style that has earned him the nickname "The Black Hispanic."

Aleem enjoyed an impressive rise through the professional ranks, remaining unbeaten through his first 17 fights while developing a reputation as an explosive pressure fighter. During this run, he scored notable victories over previously unbeaten contenders Jonathan Cepeda and Demond Nicholson, proving himself against increasingly difficult opposition and establishing himself as one of America's leading middleweight prospects.

His breakthrough came in January 2017, when he faced undefeated Ukrainian contender Evgeny Khytrov for the vacant WBC Silver middleweight title. Aleem delivered the best performance of his career, dropping Khytrov twice before forcing a sixth-round technical knockout to capture the championship. The emphatic victory elevated Aleem into the world rankings and positioned him as a legitimate contender in the middleweight division.

Later that year, however, Aleem suffered the first defeat of his professional career, losing by third-round knockout to highly regarded American contender Hugo Centeno Jr. Despite the setback, he returned with a sixth-round retirement victory over Juan De Angel in May 2018, improving his record to 18-1-1 and closing out the most active period of his professional career.

During his peak years, Aleem earned top-15 rankings with the WBC, WBA, and WBO, reaching as high as No. 5 in the WBC rankings.
