Biography
Ilari “Loverboy” Kujala is a Finnish middleweight who built a strong amateur résumé before turning professional in 2023. He won two Finnish national championships, in 2015 and 2018, and was named the best boxer at the latter tournament. Kujala also claimed bronze at the 2016 Tammer Tournament and reached the quarterfinals of the European Olympic qualifiers, where he faced future world-level contender Christian Mbilli.
Kujala has continued to develop as a professional while fighting primarily in Finland. His amateur experience includes a notable victory over Ireland’s Michael O’Reilly, and he has steadily stepped up the level of competition throughout his professional career.
Trained by former European middleweight champion Amin Asikainen, Kujala has emerged as one of Finland’s leading fighters in the middleweight division. His profile received a major boost with a hometown matchup against former WBO world champion Liam “Beefy” Smith, giving Kujala an opportunity to test his skills against an opponent with extensive world-level experience.
