Former WBO super welterweight champion Liam Smith will travel to Finland to face Ilari Kujala in a scheduled 10-round main event on September 4 at Kirkkonummi Ice Hall.
The bout will headline what Elite Boxing is billing as the biggest event in the Finnish promotion’s history. Smith brings extensive world-level experience, having previously faced Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and scored a fourth-round stoppage victory over Chris Eubank Jr. in 2023.
The card will also feature Keni Aliu against Norway’s Andreas Iversen for the BBU title. Aliu enters after winning the Finnish championship with a stoppage victory over Samuli Kärkkäinen, while Iversen has suffered only one professional defeat.
Rami El Jahiri (6-2-1) will face Jamshid Naziri (11-4) for the BBU International title. The bout will mark El Jahiri’s first professional appearance in Finland since 2020 after previously recording notable victories on the road in Austria.
Elsewhere, Anton Embulaev returns against American Jeremy Cullors (9-3, 8 KOs), while Teresa Mäkinen will make her Finnish professional debut against Poland’s Agnieszka Zaluska.
