Biography

Felix Pedro Alvarado Sanchez (born 15 February 1989) is a Nicaraguan professional boxer and former world champion. Nicknamed “El Gemelo”, he is known for his relentless pressure, high punch output, and knockout power. Alvarado held the IBF light flyweight title from 2018 to 2022 and has also challenged for world titles in the flyweight division. He is the twin brother of former WBA super featherweight champion René Alvarado, making them one of Nicaragua’s most recognized boxing families.

Alvarado began his career in the lower weight divisions and quickly earned a reputation as one of the most dangerous punchers in his class. After early setbacks in world title challenges at light flyweight and flyweight, he persevered and captured the IBF light flyweight crown in October 2018 with a dominant stoppage win over Randy Petalcorin in the Philippines. He went on to defend his title successfully against tough contenders such as Reiya Konishi and Deejay Kriel, showcasing both durability and power.

In 2022, Alvarado vacated his belt to move up to flyweight. Later that year, he earned a shot at the IBF flyweight championship against Britain’s Sunny Edwards in London. Despite a spirited effort and pushing Edwards over 12 rounds, he lost by unanimous decision. He has since remained a key contender in the flyweight division, defeating regional opponents and pursuing another chance at world honors.
