The boxing world was treated to a thrilling night of action at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool. Leading the charge was light welterweight contender Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KOs), who faced off against the seasoned Jorge Linares (47-9, 29 KOs).

Using his size to his advantage, Catterall dominated most of the bout, securing a unanimous decision with scores of 117-111, 116-112, and 116-112. A notable moment came in the fifth round when a powerful left from Catterall sent Linares reeling, although the latter managed to stay in the fight.

The co-main event saw Angel Ayala (17-0, 7 KOs) pitted against Felix “El Gemelo” Alvarado (39-4, 34 KOs) in an IBF flyweight eliminator. The bout ended in controversy, with many spectators believing Alvarado had the upper hand. However, the judges saw it differently, awarding Ayala a unanimous decision with all three scoring it 114-113. The initial mix-up in announcing Alvarado as the winner only added to the drama.

On the undercard, Peter McGrail (8-0, 5 KOs) faced Fran Mendoza (17-1, 7 KOs) in a super bantamweight clash. McGrail, after a challenging start, found his rhythm and secured a ten-round unanimous decision. His performance solidified beliefs that he could be a future multi-division world champion. Another standout was Jack Turner (3-0, 3 KOs), who continued his knockout streak with a first-round victory over Adam Yahaya (23-11-2, 12 KOs).

The night also featured unexpected outcomes. Reece Belloti (17-5, 14 KOs) managed to turn his career trajectory around with an impressive eighth-round stoppage of the previously unbeaten Aqib Fiaz (12-1, 1 KOs). Meanwhile, Khaleel Majid (12-0, 4 KOs) delivered a masterclass against Tom Farrell (21-8, 5 KOs), ending the bout in the sixth round. While Majid’s victory was decisive, questions linger about his ability to face top-tier opponents in the division.
