Biography
Carlos Lenin Ornelas Zing (born February 4, 1995) is a Mexican professional boxer from Baja California. Nicknamed “Chinito,” Ornelas stands 5-foot-7 with a 67-inch reach and fights from an orthodox stance. During his career, he has competed across several divisions, including featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight.
Ornelas made his professional debut in December 2014 with a unanimous-decision victory over Jose Pedro Lopez Marceleno. He developed largely on the Mexican circuit, building experience through a mixture of decision wins and stoppages against opponents including Dennis Contreras, Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr., Alem Robles and Jetro Pabustan.
In 2019, Ornelas faced Jhon Gemino in a ten-round contest and was stopped in the seventh round. He rebounded with victories over Francisco Gabriel Pina, Juan Ramon Bernal and Jose Alberto Guzman before suffering further defeats against Edwin Palomares and future world champion Rafael Espinoza.
Ornelas later returned with victories over Francisco Javier Franco Villa, Isai Hernandez and David Moreno Potrero. In April 2025, he stepped up against Abdullah Mason in Las Vegas for the vacant NABF and WBO-NABO lightweight titles, with the bout ending after six rounds when Ornelas retired in his corner.
In February 2026, Ornelas returned to Rosarito and stopped Lamberto Macias Meza in the second round, adding another stoppage victory to a professional career that has spanned more than a decade.
