Alexander Vladimirovich Povetkin, born on September 2, 1979, in Kursk, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union a distinguished Russian former professional boxer. Standing at 6’2, Povetkin carved an impressive legacy, holding the WBA (Regular version) heavyweight title from 2011 to 2013 and challenging twice for the unified heavyweight championship. Povetkin's illustrious career is distinguished by triumphs in his amateur days, securing gold medals at prestigious events such as the 2002 and 2004 European Championships, the 2003 World Championships, and the 2004 Olympics in the super-heavyweight division. Transitioning to the professional circuit in 2005, he asserted his dominance by claiming the inaugural WBA (Regular) title in 2011, prevailing over Ruslan Chagaev.

Following a succession of commendable title defenses, Povetkin faced Klitschko in 2013, vying for the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, The Ring, and lineal titles. Regrettably, this encounter marked Povetkin's inaugural professional loss, delivered via unanimous decision.
