Caleb “Sweethands” Plant believes the Saul Álvarez who iced him in round 11 back in 2021 no longer exists. Pointing to the Mexican star’s record‑low output against William Scull last weekend -just 152 punches thrown, 56 landed - Plant says the undisputed champion “isn’t the same” and that a rematch now tilts in his favour.
First, Plant must handle back‑to‑back keep‑busy threats: Mexico’s heavy‑handed Jose Armando Resendiz on May 31 at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, then, if all goes to plan, an autumn showdown with Jermall Charlo on the same PBC/Prime Video platform.

The 32‑year‑old acknowledges Resendiz’s danger - “he’s young and can punch” - but insists that small tactical tweaks and Álvarez’s visible slippage would change their sequel’s ending. Plant was ringside in Riyadh and says Canelo’s struggles against Scull, Berlanga and Munguia show “he doesn’t like movers,” the very style Plant brings.
Plant also praised September opponent Terence Crawford as “special,” adding that any multi‑belt scenario created by Crawford upsetting Álvarez would put him in the title mix at 168 lb. “All the top super‑middleweights are on my radar,” he said.
