Mateusz Masternak believes Brandon Glanton’s ability to deal with Jai Opetaia’s southpaw stance could determine the outcome when the two meet in Las Vegas. The pair will fight at the Meta Apex for the Zuffa cruiserweight title in a bout that recently led to Opetaia losing recognition as IBF champion.

Opetaia, widely regarded as one of the leading fighters in the cruiserweight division, enters the contest with victories over Mairis Briedis among the highlights of his career. Masternak acknowledged the Australian’s skill set but suggested questions remain about how his durability might translate if he eventually moves up to heavyweight.

“He’s got lots of skills and he’s left-handed,” Masternak said, noting that Opetaia also carries power and a relentless approach in the ring. According to the Polish European champion, the Australian pushes forward aggressively, shortens the distance and constantly applies pressure.

Masternak, who is scheduled to defend his European title against Viddal Riley at The O2 Arena in London on April 4, said Glanton’s physical strength and pressure could make the fight competitive. However, he also pointed to defensive vulnerabilities that could prove costly against a fast and accurate opponent like Opetaia.
