Deontay Wilder isn't done yet. The former WBC heavyweight champ recently opened up about his plans for the future, and it seems he’s not ready to hang up his gloves just yet. After back-to-back losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, many critics thought they’d seen the last of "The Bronze Bomber" in the ring. But in a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Wilder made it clear: he’s far from finished.
At 39 years old, Wilder is still training and recovering from injuries he didn’t even realize he had. "I broke my arm way back in November, had two tears in my shoulder," Wilder explained. Despite these setbacks, his competitive fire hasn’t dimmed. Wilder remains confident, stating, "The best is yet to come. I’m just getting things together."
One fight that could be on the horizon is a showdown with MMA star turned boxer Francis Ngannou. Both Wilder and Ngannou have expressed interest in the matchup, and Wilder was respectful but enthusiastic about the possibility. "I have nothing but respect for Ngannou," Wilder said, while also extending condolences to Ngannou for a recent family tragedy. "I’m down to negotiate and make that fight happen."
The prospect of a Wilder vs. Ngannou clash has fight fans buzzing. Both are known for their devastating knockout power, making it a battle of who lands first. Wilder himself acknowledged the unpredictability of such a fight, saying, "Any fight is competitive. You got a man with two hands, two feet, and a heart - you’ve got a fight."
