There will be no last-minute showdown between Ryan Garcia and Jake Paul, despite speculation that Garcia could step in to replace Gervonta Davis for Paul’s November 14 Netflix fight.

The bout between Paul and Davis was thrown into doubt following new legal trouble for “Tank,” and Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions is reportedly attempting to postpone the fight and secure a replacement, but Oscar De La Hoya has made it clear that Garcia won’t be part of those plans.

“A lot of people are asking me about Ryan Garcia and Jake Paul,” De La Hoya said in a video on social media. “Let me just tell you guys why this fight is not gonna happen: Ryan Garcia fights for DAZN, and Jake Paul fights on Netflix. That’s pretty much the bottom line. Golden Boy has a contract with DAZN. Ryan Garcia has a contract with Golden Boy, and that’s just the way it is. This is business.”

This isn’t the first time De La Hoya has stepped in to halt Garcia’s outside ventures. Earlier this year, he blocked a proposed New Year’s Eve bout in Japan against kickboxer Rukiya Anpo, citing similar contractual restrictions. “Ryan Garcia is probably gonna go on a rant,” De La Hoya said. “But you have to go by the law, by the rules. You have a contract with DAZN. You have a contract with Golden Boy.”

According to De La Hoya, Garcia’s next fight will be officially announced through Golden Boy, with reports pointing toward a clash against Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title in early 2026. Meanwhile, Jake Paul faces uncertainty over his November event, with limited replacement options such as a lukewarm Nate Diaz rematch or a risky matchup against Francis Ngannou.
