Gervonta "Tank" Davis has announced that he will reveal his next opponent immediately following his WBA lightweight title defense against Lamont Roach on March 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The fight, which has already generated significant buzz, may be just a prelude to an even bigger announcement.

Fans have speculated about Davis’s next opponent after the 29-year-old revealed his three-fight wish list for 2025. Leading the list is a rematch with Ryan Garcia, whose April 2023 clash with Davis produced 1.2 million PPV buys and over $100 million in revenue. Tank reportedly earned between $50 to $60 million from the event, making it one of the most lucrative fights in recent years.

A potential rematch with Garcia could solidify Davis’s plan, from his own words, to retire at the end of 2025. The first fight’s massive success was attributed to Garcia’s active social media presence, where his 12 million Instagram followers played a significant role in driving PPV sales. Despite hurting Davis in the second round of their first meeting, Garcia fell short, with Davis landing at a more accurate clip (93 of 235, 39.6%) compared to Garcia's (59 of 257, 23%).

While Davis has indicated his interest in taking on other big names like Vasiliy Lomachenko or Devin Haney, he has shown little enthusiasm for a potential showdown with Shakur Stevenson. Stevenson’s defensive style and smaller fan base make him a less attractive option for Davis, who is focused on high-revenue fights.
