Edgar Berlanga has unveiled a new training routine that’s drawing plenty of attention ahead of his March 8 return. In a released video clip, the Brooklyn native showcased a rapid, almost comical upper body movement he claims will give him an edge over the top opponents in the super middleweight division. Despite the light-hearted appearance of the technique, Berlanga’s message is clear: he’s ready to step up his game to secure a quick rematch with Canelo Alvarez.

Berlanga’s ambitions don’t stop at a Canelo rematch. He’s drawn up an impressive hit list of fighters he wants to face next, with Jaime Munguia leading the pack. A fight between Berlanga and Munguia is seen as a potential blockbuster, tapping into the fierce Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry potentially delivering massive PPV numbers if it materializes. Munguia would present a tough challenge, and beating him could be key to earning that elusive rematch with Canelo.

The list doesn’t end there. Berlanga has also named Jermall Charlo, Caleb Plant, Hamzah Sheeraz, a rematch with Canelo Alvarez, and Diego Pacheco among his future targets. Including 35-year-old Jermall Charlo might be a long shot, given that he rarely fights these days. Without backing from big promoters like Turki, a Berlanga-Charlo bout seems unlikely to get off the ground.

While Berlanga’s new training style is eye-catching, it comes with risks. He’s been dropped in fights against heavy hitters like Canelo and Roamer Alexis Angulo, which exposed vulnerabilities in his chin. The flashy, high-speed movements might be effective against certain opponents, but they could also leave him open if not executed with precision.
