The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois is currently in the works according to Usyk's promoter. The first encounter between the two took place in August 2023, where Usyk secured a stoppage win, following controversy surrounding a punch by Dubois that was ruled low. Despite the setback, Dubois has since rebuilt his career impressively, securing stoppage victories over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua, while earning and defending the IBF title that Usyk vacated between his bouts with Tyson Fury.
The rematch has gained significant traction after Dubois confronted Usyk following his victory over Joshua in December 2024, calling for the next bout. Although Dubois was scheduled to defend his title against Joseph Parker in February 2025, an illness forced his withdrawal from the fight. Now, both camps are focused on arranging the rematch instead of rescheduling the Parker fight. Usyk's promoter, Alex Krassyuk, confirmed that talks are ongoing and suggested that Wembley Stadium is one of the venues being considered for the event.

Dubois, recently named British Boxing Board of Control's Boxer of the Year for 2024, has been vocal about his readiness for the rematch. Reflecting on his past performances, Dubois has expressed the need to improve and be even better than he was in his previous bouts, particularly against Joshua. He remains confident in his ability to challenge Usyk again, emphasizing that he is the "kingslayer" who defeated the man in charge.
