Bakhodir Jalolov and Richard Torrez Jr., two of the most promising heavyweight prospects, could be headed toward a professional rematch. The pair first clashed in the 2020 Olympics, where Uzbekistan’s Jalolov defeated Torrez to claim the gold medal in the heavyweight final. Now, both fighters remain unbeaten as professionals, and a future showdown appears increasingly likely.

Jalolov, a southpaw who now fights out of Brooklyn, New York, boasts an impressive record of 14-0, all victories coming by way of stoppage. The 2021 Olympic gold medalist, who has been managed by Vadim Kornilov, has continued to dominate in both the professional and amateur ranks. He recently secured his second Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games, defeating Spain’s Ayoub Ghadfa in the final. Jalolov’s ability to seamlessly switch between professional and amateur competitions has made him a formidable force in the sport, with victories across various tournaments, including the Asian Games and the Great Silk Way tournament.

Richard Torrez Jr., who won silver at the 2020 Olympics, has also enjoyed an unblemished professional career, amassing a 10-0 record, all by knockout. Torrez, fighting out of Tulare, California, has earned stoppage victories over tough competition, including Tyrrell Herndon, Donald Haynesworth, and the previously undefeated Brandon Moore. Torrez is set to face Philadelphia’s Joey Dawejko on September 22.

With both fighters continuing to rack up wins, speculation is growing that Jalolov and Torrez may face each other once again in the professional ranks. A rematch between these two Olympic standouts would certainly attract attention.
